The process

From denial to a resolved case

Here's exactly what happens after you file, so you always know where your case stands.

Step one · 5 minutes

Tell us what happened

Choose the situation that fits: public access, housing, or pet screening. Answer a short set of questions about your animal, the business or landlord involved, and what happened. You can attach emails, letters, or photos, but nothing is required beyond the basics.

Step two · 2 to 5 business days

A real person reviews your case

No bot decides your outcome. Our team reads your complaint, checks it against the Fair Housing Act, ADA, or Air Carrier Access Act depending on your situation, and looks into the business, landlord, or screening company involved.

Step three · your next step

We help you take action

You'll hear back with a clear recommendation: a demand letter we help you send, a formal complaint filed with HUD, DOT, or your state agency, or a referral to an attorney if your case needs one. Either way, you leave with a next step, not silence.

Questions people ask before filing

Does filing a complaint cost anything?

No. Reviewing your complaint is always free. If your case needs legal representation beyond what we can help with directly, we'll tell you plainly before anything moves forward.

Does submitting a complaint create an attorney client relationship?

No. ServiceAnimalLaw is a complaint intake and advocacy service. An attorney client relationship only begins if it's confirmed with you separately, in writing.

What if I'm not sure which category my situation fits?

Pick the closest match. Our reviewers reroute your case internally if it turns out to involve more than one issue, and it won't slow down your review.

Will my information be shared with the landlord or business?

Not without your permission. We'll always tell you before your name or details go to another party, and you decide how to proceed.
